Together with a host of celebrities, Prince William is calling on the world to “harness that spirit of invention”, in an effort to find ways and technologies that will help to repair our planet.
As part of the Earthshot Prize launched by the Duke of Cambridge last year, Prince William is now urging everyone to get involved to use the same kind of spirit of invention, that saw the development of coronavirus vaccines, to find ways to tackle the climate crisis.
As stated on the Earthshot Prize website, “ the world is in the midst of the worst health emergency in over a century. Almost three million people have died. Lives have been put on hold, jobs lost, education halted. But humanity is rising to the challenge.”
They go on to say that lessons learned during the pandemic should be applied to the “ most pressing challenge in human history: stopping the climate emergency. If we do not act in this decade, the damage to our planet will be irreversible, impacting not only those of us alive today but threatening the future of generations to come”.
The Earthshot Prize is a “global initiative to discover and roll out at scale solutions to the world’s biggest environmental problems”.
Their aim is to find and reward inclusive solutions which can repair the planet, help protect those most vulnerable to the changing climate, and create a healthier, cleaner, and better life for us all.
The agreement has been signed by His Royal Highness Prince William, Her Majesty Queen Rania Al Abdullah, Ate Blanchett, Christiana Figueres, Ani Alves, Sir David Attenborough, Hindou Oumarou Ibrahim, Indra Nooyi, Naoko Yamazaki, Dr. Ngozi Okonjo-Iweala, Shakira Mebarak, and Yao Ming. On
