Leo Sayer, the British-born singer, songwriter, and performer whose career has spanned over four decades, is living down under and has just married the love of his life at the age of 74.

Taking to Instagram his publicists said : “ After being partners for almost 39 years, Donatella Piccinetti and Leo Sayer got married in their garden in the Southern Highlands on Saturday 15th of April. It was a very private ceremony where the couple was joined by 40 of their closest friends. There was a reception lunch held afterward at the famous Magpie Restaurant in Berrima. The weather was sunny, the bride was radiant, the groom looked handsome and they couldn’t be happier with how the day went."

In January 2009, Sayer became an Australian citizen, having lived in Sydney since 2005.

Born Gerard Hugh Sayer on May 21, 1948, in Sussex, England, in the early 1970s, Sayer signed a record deal with Chrysalis Records and released his debut album, "Silverbird," in 1973. The album spawned the hit singles "The Show Must Go On" and "One Man Band," and established Sayer as a rising star in the pop music world.

Sayer's success continued throughout the 1970s, as he released a string of hit albums and singles. In 1974, he released his second album, "Just a Boy," which included the hit singles "Long Tall Glasses" and "Moonlighting." The following year, Sayer released the album "Another Year," which featured the hit single "You Make Me Feel Like Dancing."

In 1977, Sayer achieved even greater success with his album "Thunder in My Heart," which featured the hit title track as well as the hit singles "Easy to Love" and "I Can't Stop Loving You (Though I Try)." The album went gold in the United States and cemented Sayer's status as a major pop music star.

Sayer continued to release albums throughout the 1980s and 1990s, but his popularity waned somewhat in the face of changing musical tastes.

According to Wikipedia: In January 2015, Sayer released his album, Restless Years,[26] and toured Australia and Singapore, with various support acts including Jason Ayres.[27] In January 2015, Sayer also featured in Singapore's Leo Sayer in Concert – 40 Years at the Top, presented by the British Theatre Playhouse.[citation needed] In October 2015, Sayer was awarded a Gold Badge of Merit from the British Academy of Songwriters, Composers and Authors.[28]

On 3 May 2019, Sayer released his latest album, Selfie on Demon Records. It was recorded at his home studio at The Barn in Plainland, Queensland, Australia.[29]

Sayer embarked on a 50th-anniversary tour on March 16, 2023.
