The forty-one-year songstress has offered to pay the fine for the Norwegian women’s handball players after they refused to wear bikini bottoms for their match against Spain at the European Beach Handball Championships last week.
The team was fined $1,765, or roundabout R26 300, by the European Handball Federation for competing in “improper clothing” when they chose to wear shorts rather than the mandated bikini bottoms for their clash against Spain.
Ironically male players are allowed to wear shorts although no longer than four inches above the knee.
Taking to Twitter the superstar said, “Good on ya, ladies. I’ll be happy to pay your fines for you. Keep it up.” She added that the EHF “should be fined for their sexism.”
I’m VERY proud of the Norwegian female beach handball team FOR PROTESTING THE VERY SEXIST RULES ABOUT THEIR “uniform”. The European handball federation SHOULD BE FINED FOR SEXISM. Good on ya, ladies. I’ll be happy to pay your fines for you. Keep it up.

According to the rules, female athletes must wear bikini bottoms with a close fit and cut on an upward angle towards the top of the leg – yes - that is what the International Handball Federation says.
The Norwegian Handball Federation was firmly behind their team and agreed to pay the fine in full. The team took to Social Media to thank everyone for their support.
