OUTsurance reveals Katlego Maboe did not suffer financially due to adverts being pulled

Katlego Maboe

Last Friday Katlego Maboe’s life was changed irrevocably when a video of a confrontation between himself and his partner, Monique Muller, went viral. The video shows a fiery confrontation on the part of Muller, and a somewhat subdued Maboe, admitting that he cheated on her.

Since the sharing of the clip on social media, abuse allegations have also been levelled against the media personality. He was subsequently taken off SABC3’s Espresso show and OUTsurance pulled all their advertisements in which he featured.

However, in a statement to the media, OUTsurance has revealed that Maboe has received full compensation for the campaigns. They also clarified the fact that Moboe was not an OUTsurance employee or a permanent contractor to OUTsurance - he was an actor who had been hired as a freelancer to do a job.

In the meantime, a petition by fans to 'Bring back Katlego Maboe' continues to gain momentum online.

In addition to the abuse allegations, Maboe is accused of contravening a protection order against him. Maboe has denied the allegations of abuse. The Espresso team has issued a statement confirming that Katlego will not be on air pending the outcome of the investigation.

In the words of British barrister, Sir William Garrow, one is ' innocent until proven guilty.’
