Taking to social media, the Oscar-winning actor shared the news of his recent cancer diagnosis saying, "As the Dude would say.. New S**T has come to light. I have been diagnosed with Lymphoma. Although it is a serious disease, I feel fortunate that I have a great team of doctors and the prognosis is good. I'm starting treatment and will keep you posted on my recovery.” (Jeffrey ‘Dude’ Lebowski is the middle-aged character he played the 1998 cult classic The Big Lebowski.)
He also told his followers that he was about to start treatment and would keep them "posted'.

In 2009 Bridges won an Oscar for his portrayal of an alcoholic country singer in the 2009 film Crazy Heart. He also earned Academy Award nominations for his roles in The Last Picture Show, Thunderbolt and Lightfoot, Starman, The Contender, True Grit and Hell or High Water.
Despite his advanced years, Jeff Bridges still looks in fine shape and was wished well by many of his peers. In thanking them he took the opportunity to encourage his fellow Americans to vote in the upcoming presidential election tweeting, "Thank you for your prayers and well wishes. And, while I have you, please remember to go vote. Because we are all in this together."
