Oprah Winfrey celebrated the marriage of one of her former graduates by buying her a R140 000 wedding dress and walking her down the aisle in LA.
Glori Rapalani’s mother passed away when she was just ten years old and since then, as one of the pupils at Oprah’s academy, they have become extremely close.
Oprah herself wore a glamorous gold, silk kaftan dress by SA designer Gert-Johan Coetzee. This is the second time that she has worn one of his designs, the last time was at the Global Citizen Festival at the FNB Stadium.
Yapalani paid a touching tribute to both her own mother and the mother figure that she found in Oprah Winfrey saying, “My three mama bears walked me down the aisle. One walked me in spirit. I lost my mum when I was ten and her spirit gained me to them. A praying mum, dead or alive, is sooooo powerful”.
Congrats Glori!
