Oprah Winfrey delivered a powerful and moving keynote address at the Is’thunzi Sabafazi (Dignity of Women) event which took place yesterday at the UJ Soweto Campus.
She paid tribute to Madiba and clearly had the audience eating out of the palm of her hand. She had been asked by her good friend and Mandela’s widow, Graça Machel, to speak at the gathering which is part of the Global Citizen Festival: Mandela 100 celebrations.
Oprah was proud to announce during her speech the following: ”I said to Mandela that one day I will build a school and it will be a school for girls because I believe that women will save South Africa. We have just had our first doctor graduate."
It is a speech well worth watching, and well worth sharing.
