Obama presents Ellen DeGeneres with Medal Of Freedom

Many have criticised his choices and many have praised them, but it's in the moments that represent his humanity in which we can not  deny that his core quality and strength lies in his ability to care for others.

Barack has bestowed the Medal of Freedom to some of America's best known performers, scientists and athletes. Tom Hanks, Michael Jordan and Bruce Springsteen are amongst those who have received the medal.

Ellen DeGeneres can now be added to that list. As Barack presented the medal, he admits to choking up a bit as he said the following, "It’s easy to forget now just how much courage was required for Ellen to come out on the most public of stages 20 years ago."

He continued by saying that he praised  the comedian and actress publicly coming out as gay. He said her bravery was important not only for the LGBT community, but helped "push our country in the direction of justice"
