Angela Bassett has joined the cast of Marvel's Black Panther as Ta'Challa's mother Ramonda.
The Oscar nominee will star alongside Chadwick Boseman, who will be her onscreen son, Michael B. Jordan, Lupita Nyong’o, Danai Gurira and Forest Whitaker.
In the comics, T'Challa's mother dies giving birth to him, and Ramonda is his father's second wife, who was kidnapped and abused for years, though no one knows how closely the film will hew to comic canon.
Boseman introduced the Black Panther in Captain America; Civil War and is rumoured that he will feature in Avengers; Infinity
The film hits theaters on February 16, 2018.
