Considered a ‘Goddess’ in the kitchen, Nigella Lawson has become something of a heroine for many women the world over. Not worrying about her girth, stuffing her face with brownies in bed, these are things Nigella confesses to, her liberating stance has earned her many a fan.
And to prove her point, the TV personality and cookbook author gave American television a dressing down on Saturday on Twitter for wanting to airbrush her ‘sticking out stomach’.
Her post already has thousands of supportive likes and comments. She posted the tweet in response to a post by presenter and actor Jameela Jamil, who was criticising an Irish columnist for his attack on her call for an end to airbrushing women in the public eye.
I’ve had to tell American tv stations not to airbrush my sticking out stomach. The hatred of fat, and assumption that we’d all be grateful to be airbrushed thinner is pernicious.
