Password sharing could soon become a thing of the past for Netflix users who share a password with other households.
Netflix is testing a feature to clamp down on people sharing their login details and some users have already started to get notifications asking them to verify they live with the account holder. The message reads: "If you don't live with the owner of this account, you need your own account to keep watching."
According to The Streamable viewers need to verify the account with an E-mail or Text Code, or create a new account with a 30-Day Free Trial. A Netflix spokesperson told The Streamable, “This test is designed to help ensure that people using Netflix accounts are authorized to do so.”
It is currently only being tested on TVs. As it stands, according to the official Netflix subscription agreement, point 4.2. states: “ The Netflix service and any content viewed through the service are for your personal and non-commercial use only and may not be shared with individuals beyond your household.”
