The Miss South Africa Organisation is trending yet again following the shock announcement that Lalela Mswane will compete in another international pageant later this year.
South Africa competed in the Miss Supranational Pageant for the first time in Poland last year when Thato Mosehle, was crowned the second runner up.
CEO for the Miss SA Organisation Stephanie Weil says it is not uncommon for the same representative to attend more than one international competition during their year of reign, should the international pageant’s dates and timeline allow for it.
She says due to Covid several events had to be postponed and this has caused confusion around the different competitions and when they will be held.
A perfect example is the Miss World 2021 pageant where Miss SA 2020, Shudufhadzo Musida, is still competing.
The 70th Miss World Pageant was postponed in Puerto Rico in December last year due to Covid-19 infections and restrictions.
Musida has since been fast-tracked to the Top 40 for the event that will now take place next month.
Miss SA's latest announcement would have come as a huge disappointment for Mswane's two runner ups who would have wanted to compete in at least one International pageant.

No date has been set for Miss World 2022 and it begs the question of whether Lalela Mswane might be eligible to take part in that pageant as well.
Other former Miss South Africa’s who represented South Africa at more than one international pageant include Joanne Strauss, Megan Coleman, Tansey Coetzee, Bokang Montjane, Marilyn Ramos & most recently Ntandoyenkosi Kunene.
