Tomorrow night, October 16, Mzansi will crown a new Miss South Africa, and former Miss Universe, Margaret Gardiner will be there in person to watch the crowning.
Gardiner won the Miss Universe title in 1978, becoming the first South African woman to do so, she was just 18 at the time. The former beauty queen holds a BA in psychology from the College of Charleston and is the author of two books on health and beauty. She now works as a print and television journalist in LA and is married to Andre Nel, a professor of Paediatrics and Public Health at the prestigious UCLA.
Welcome home Margaret! She took to Instagram to share her joy at being invited to attend the extravaganza as a special guest.
