Madonna has shared news of her recovery after a serious bacterial infection saw her rushed to ICU last month.
The Material Girl hitmaker had no option but to postpone her world tour when she found herself in an intensive care unit on June 24 with a “ serious bacterial infection.” Madonna spent several days in hospital before returning home to recover.
The 64-year-old superstar’s tour, The Celebration, marks her 40th anniversary in the industry.
In an update on Instagram, Madonna said she was "on the road to recovery" and "incredibly grateful for all the blessings in my life".
She went on to thank fans for their "positive energy, prayers and words of healing and encouragement", telling her 19 million followers: "My first thought when I woke up in the hospital was my children.
"My second thought was that I did not want to disappoint anyone who bought tickets for my tour.
"I also didn't want to let down the people who worked tirelessly with me over the last few months to create my show. I hate to disappoint anyone.
"My focus is now my health and getting stronger and I assure you, I'll be back with you as soon as I can!"
"I couldn't be more grateful for your love and support".
