M.Night Shyamalan's Glass hits number one at box office opening

The superheroes thriller, Glass, the sequel to M.Night Shyamalan's Unbreakable and Split came out tops at the box office during its debut weekend.

Glass grossed in $40.6 million and is projected to make another 7 million during the Martin Luther King Day holiday.

The additional projected income for the film will make it the third highest grossing film for the MLK day holiday, placing it behind, Ride Along that made $48 million and American Sniper that made $107.2 million.

Regardless of the mixed reviews, the film received before its release, it still did well.

This current number 1 film makes 5 number 1 films for Shyamalan whose previous hits included the sixth sense that was released in 1999.
