For those who cannot get enough of the ongoing 'soap-like saga' that is the royal family comes yet another movie about the late Princess Diana. A drawcard this time around will no doubt be the portrayal of the “queen of hearts” by Twilight star Kristen Stewart. And with production having started, the first picture of her as the royal has been released to the media.
Titled Spencer, direction is by Pablo Larrain, the writing nod goes to Peaky Blinders creator Steven Knight.
The film is unique in that it focuses on one weekend in the life of Princess Diana, as she spends the Christmas holiday with the Royal Family at the Sandringham estate in Norfolk, and decides to leave her marriage to Prince Charles.
Filming will take place in Germany and the U.K. and a release date towards the end of the year is anticipated.
30-year-old Stewart was born and raised in Los Angeles to parents who both worked in the entertainment industry, she first gained attention at age 12 for her role as the daughter of Jodie Foster’s character in the thriller Panic Room.
