Asha Daniels, a wardrobe designer who worked on Lizzo’s 2023 tour, has filed a lawsuit against the rapper, accusing her and her team of racial and sexual harassment, disability discrimination, illegal retaliatory termination, and assault.
Daniels helped design the outfits for the rapper’s “Big Grrrl” dancers, and according to Sky News filed the lawsuit against Lizzo, her wardrobe manager Amanda Nomura, and her tour manager Carlina Gugliotta Thursday in a Los Angeles superior court.
At the beginning of August 2023 the Grammy award-winning artist found herself at the centre of a legal storm as allegations of harassment were filed against her by former backup dancers Arianna Davis, Crystal Williams, and Noelle Rodriguez who alleged they had faced sexual harassment, disability discrimination, and false imprisonment during their time in her employ.
This new lawsuit came just hours before Lizzo accepted the prestigious Quincy Jones Humanitarian Award presented by the Black Music Action Coalition Thursday night at the Beverly Hilton in Los Angeles.
