It was with great sadness that Mshoza’s manager, Thanduxolo Jindela, announced the news of her death on the publicity agency Kwathole Conexion’s Facebook page.
Jindela’s post reads, "Sad Passing of the Queen of Mshoza Johannesburg 19 November 2020. It is with great sadness to announce the untimely death of Nomasonto "Mshoza" Maswanganyi. The Kortes hitmaker succumbed peacefully in the early hours of this morning. She was 37. She will be deeply missed as an ultimate entertainer who loved being on stage. Not only did she radiate star quality, Mshoza a Media darling."
The 37-year-old musician was diagnosed as a diabetic in 2014 when she was hospitalised after experiencing severe symptoms related to the disease.
Since her untimely death tributes have been pouring in.
The Department of Sports, Arts and Culture paid tribute by releasing a statement expressing their sadness at the loss of what they called one of the “country’s most exceptional artists.”
SAMRO also expressed their sadness and shock via Twitter saying. “It is with great sadness that we acknowledge the passing of kwaito star Nomasonto Maswanganyi, affectionately known as Mshoza.

Mshoza rose to fame as the First Lady of Kwaito with her smash hit Kortes in the early 2000s from her debut album BullDawgz First Lady. She is survived by her two children, Pride and Jacob Jnr, as well as two sisters.
