October 21 forty years ago Kimberly Noel Kardashian West was born in Los Angeles, America, to parents Robert and Kris. Kim is the middle child with an older sister Kourtney and a younger sister Khloé. After their parents divorced in 1991, her mother married the 1976 Summer Olympics decathlon winner, Bruce Jenner. (now known as Caitlyn Jenner.) Through this union, Kim Kardashian gained step-brothers Burton "Burt", Brandon and Brody and step-sister Casey; and half-sisters Kendall and Kylie Jenner.
That’s the family tree - fast forward to 2020 and we find both critics and admirers describing her as being “famous for being famous”. Whichever way you look at it, Kim is rich – super-rich. She has an online and social media presence, that has amassed hundreds of millions of followers on both Twitter and Instagram. Her reality TV show Keeping up with the Kardashians has spawned many business endeavours including various product lines linked to her name – one of them is KKW Beauty and KKW fragrance which she founded in 2017.
And today will see the launch of a new addition to this range – it’s called the Opalescent Collection and Mom Jenner proudly took to Twitter to announce the launch taking place on Kim’s 40th.

While it may be business, as usual for the socialite today, rumour has it that Kim is not going to let the global pandemic stop her from celebrating in style. According to Page Six, she is apparently working on flying 30 of her closest friends and family to a private island where “they can party more freely in a quarantine of their own making”. According to unnamed sources, she has reportedly rented out a luxury tropical island that's said to be in the Caribbean, but, is refusing to tell any of her guests exactly where they will be heading in her private plane.
In closing, Kardashian West must be commended for becoming more politically active in recent years, lobbying president Donald Trump for prison reform, she is also planning on becoming a lawyerand already has one hyear in the bag.
Kardashian West first gained media attention as a friend and stylist of Paris Hilton but received wider notice after a 2002 sex tape, Kim Kardashian, Superstar, with her then-boyfriend Ray J was released in 2007.
As the line in that famous song by Barabara Cook goes - “it’s not where you start – it’s where you finish.”
