James Blunt has revealed to the media that his father Colonel Charles Blunt, a former cavalry officer, is doing well after being donated a life-saving kidney by a man who ironically bears the same name as him.
Charlie Blunt, the life-saving donor, who as it turns out is a distant cousin of the Blunt family, was the right match and was, therefore, able to donate a kidney to his namesake.
Blunt’s father had been suffering from stage 4 chronic kidney disease and had been living on borrowed time. Now, just ten days after surgery, Blunt told the Daily Mail UK that his dad “is doing well” and said of the donor, “ it’s a remarkable thing to do.”
James Blunt’s latest album, Once Upon a Mind, features a track called Monsters which examines his 'parents mortality' - the emotive video to the track features dad Charles. Take a look at the clip right here.
