The famous disco era French producer, Henri Belolo has passed away at the age of 82. The Morrocan born muso was a pioneer of the disco-music age which took the world by storm in the 1970s.
Although not gay himself, he was instrumental in putting together the Village People, a band that was to become synonymous with the gay community.
Henri Belolo was responsible for forming the six-piece band that spawned huge hits such as In the Navy and Macho Man as well as the Y.M.C.A, the song that was to go on to become an anthem for the LGBT population.
To this day the hits of the Village People are likely to get plenty of folk onto any dance floor. There is no doubt that Henri Belolo will live on through his music, may you RIP Henri.
