HBO breaks silence on length of final GoT episodes.


Fans of the Game of Thrones series will be keen to know just how long each episode of the final season are, especially those living in South Africa where an electricity shortage is resulting in blackouts for four and a half hours at a time. The good news is that the network has released the official running times and you will find them right here!

Season 8, episode 1
Debut date: SUNDAY, APRIL 14 at 9:00 p.m. (ET/PT)
Estimated running time: 0:54

Season 8, episode 2
Debut date: SUNDAY, APRIL 21 at 9:00 p.m. (ET/PT)
Estimated running time: 0:58

Season 8, episode 3
Debut date: SUNDAY, APRIL 28 at 9:00 p.m. (ET/PT)

So, the average length is 72 minutes which is more like a mini-movie. HBO chief, Richard Plepler, described the final season in an interview as “like six movies,” but, he was apparently referring to their cinematic quality and not their length. 

However long they are, fans are said to be in for some pretty spectacular scenes in this, the final season of one of televisions' biggest success stories.
