The image(see below) posted by gaffer Serge Svetnoy, is thought to be the final shot taken of Hutchins onset of the movie Rust. It shows the 42-year-old cinematographer with headphones atop a beanie, her back to the camera, and a costumed Alec Baldwin standing in front of her.
The tragedy unfolded last week when Baldwin was rehearsing a cross-draw motion and fired the gun, not knowing it had a live round of ammo in one of the chambers.
Detectives are currently investigating the incident at Bonanza Creek Ranch, a well-known filming location.
Svetnoy was not only a colleague but also a close friend of Hutchins. He has been scathing in his criticism of safety protocols being followed on set and took to Facebook to say that in his opinion, “It's the fault of negligence and unprofessionalism.”
The grieving gaffer also said: “Yes, I was standing shoulder-to-shoulder with Halyna during this fatal shot that took her life and injured the director Joel Souza. I was holding her in my arms while she was dying. Her blood was on my hands”.
Hutchins was a graduate of the American Film Institute and was hailed as a “brilliant “ talent whose untimely death has rocked the industry. The 42-year-old was a Ukrainian-born American cinematographer credited with work on more than 30 films, short films, and TV miniseries, including the films Archemeny, Darlin’, and Blindifre.
68-year-old Baldwin, a co-producer of the film, plays its namesake, an outlaw named Rust, whose 13-year-old grandson is, convicted of accidental murder.
Filming has been halted while the investigation proceeds.
