South Africa’s Charlize Theron is wearing her heart on her sleeve and sharing her love for animals as she pleads with her followers to adopt a dog from a shelter.
Sharing the fact that she grew up on a farm in rural South Africa with her only friends being animals, she joked that ”my best friend was my goat, Bok”. Now living in the US and in a NYC apartment, dogs are the only animals in her life but clearly vital to her well-being.
In recent posts on Twitter she talks about the sad plight of overflowing shelters, this is sadly not unique to America, the same situation exists in South Africa and countries the world over with a contributing factor being the global pandemic.
In her heartfelt post she said: “Adoption is the only way to go. This fall, animal shelters across the country are overwhelmed at capacity, putting tons of lives of homeless dogs and cats at risk. if I could save them all, I would (trust me), but this is gonna take all of us. Whether by fostering or adopting, learn how you can help and meet some of the sweetest angels who need saving from a local shelter near you today".
