Google honours Hugh Masekela

South Africa’s world-famous Hugh Masekela has been honoured by internet giant Google with a stunning doodle to mark what would have been his 80^th birthday.

Hugh, a  trumpeter, flugelhornist, cornetist, composer and singer was much loved and lauded not only for his immense talent but also for writing many well-known apartheid songs such as Soweto Blues and Bring Him Back Home.

The music icon was born on 4 April 1939 in  Witbank, South Africa, he passed away in 2018 at the age of 78.
