Sequels 'Avatar: The Way of Water,' and 'Top Gun: Maverick', have been named among the contenders for the 2023 Golden Globe Awards.
The ceremony will return to television next month following a 12-month hiatus following a diversity and ethics scandal. The organization faced criticism last year after it emerged that none of its members were black.
The Globes kick off Hollywood's awards season and are also seen as strong indicators as to who will walk away with an Oscar. Avatar: The Way of Water, and Top Gun: Maverick are nominated in the Best Motion Picture Drama category and are up against Elvis, The Fabelmans, and Tár.
