Get ready for 11 Days of amazing as the virtual curtain rises on the National Arts Festival 2020

Billed as the ultimate virtual celebration of South African arts  - the National Arts Festival programme kicks into action online today with plenty of amazing for fans of the arts across every genre. A visit to the festival website revealed just how easy the organisers have made it to navigate one’s way around this virtual festival.

All events can be accessed through their website portal – from Jazz to art to fringe events and there is even a Virtual Green. You can choose to buy a Festival Pass which gives you access to all the content on the Curated Programme but not to Fringe events. Jazz lovers can purchase a Standard Bank Jazz Festival Pass which unlocks all the shows on the jazz festival or tickets can be purchased individually at R45 a show.

Daily programmes consist of pre-recorded performances (theatre, music, dance), films, live broadcasts, visual art “walkabouts”, workshops, and more. When it comes to live events, they will have to be watched on the day – but most content will be available for viewing at whatever time is most suitable to you, within an 11-day period from the date of release.

You can also purchase tickets individually should you just want to watch one event. There are also plenty of discounted bundles available for daily programme passes and other packages, including jazz.

The Virtual Fringe Programme is a pay-per-view. For everything from comedy, performance art, cabaret, magic and lots more experimental ventures you will find tickets priced from R25.

Visual Artists will be hosting online galleries at the festival website and there is no charge to visit any of the galleries. You can contact the artists directly should you wish to purchase any of the art.

Then there’s the Virtual Green which has crafters pitching their digital “tents’ on the vNAF website. Yes, you can still purchase that crazy or zany pair of pants. You will be able to chat directly to the traders of each virtual stall.

What are you waiting for – click on the festival website and get ready to be amazed from the comfort of your home!
