As of February 23rd, any South African already fully vaccinated against Covid-19 will be able to request a mixer booster vaccine to potentially benefit from what has been dubbed the "mix and match" approach.
This shift to heterologous boosters was authorized by the director-general of the department of health, Sandile Buthelezi, by way of a formal circular to health departments and everyone running Covid-19 vaccinations sites around the country.
