Elon Musk’s brain-chip company Neuralink has been given the go-ahead by the U.S. Food and Drug Administration to begin its first-in-human clinical trial after initially battling to gain approval.
The brain chip device is said to be able to help numerous conditions ranging from obesity to autism.
Musk has previously said that he hopes that the device will help the disabled as well as treat conditions such as depression and schizophrenia. The brain chip can also be used for web browsing and telepathy.
According to Neuralink, their aim is also to allow the “ fully implantable, cosmetically invisible brain-computer interface to let you control a computer or mobile device anywhere you go”.
“Micron-scale threads would be inserted into areas of the brain that control movement. Each thread contains many electrodes and connects them to an implant called the “Link.”
Neuralink took to Twitter to announce the news.
