DeGeneres was among the first to pay tribute to the popular American hip-hop dancer, choreographer, and producer, following his death at the age of 40 by suicide.
The Los Angeles County Medical Examiner-Coroner confirmed the cause of death telling PEOPLE that he died of a self-inflicted gunshot wound to the head Tuesday at a motel in the Encino area of Los Angeles.
DeGeneres wrote on Twitter : “I’m heartbroken. tWitch was pure love and light. He was my family, and I loved him with all my heart. I will miss him. Please send your love and support to Allison and his beautiful children - Weslie, Maddox, and Zaia".

From 2014 until the show's conclusion in 2022, he featured on The Ellen DeGeneres Show as a co-host and co-executive producer.
He is survived by his wife Allison Holker, pictured below, and children Zaia, 3, Maddox, 6, and Weslie, 14.
