The Duchess of Sussex, Meghan Markle, has paid tribute to Cape Town student Uyinene Mrwetyana by tying a ribbon at the site where she was murdered last month.
There have been countrywide protests across South Africa since her murder, which the Duchess says she and her husband have been following from afar. Now in South Africa on their Africa Tour, Meghan is determined to take a stand against gender-based violence and has been eager to show solidarity with the women of our country.
Her gesture has been applauded by South Africans as well as their global network of followers on social media.
