Despite covid, 'Spider-Man: No Way Home', makes box office history

The much anticipated third Spider-Man solo outing has had the third-biggest opening weekend of any Hollywood film in history.

Tom Holland's version of the Marvel icon took a whopping R9 269 150 000 at its opening weekend, only Endgame and Infinity War are ahead of it and neither of these had to contend with a global pandemic.

No Time To Die remains the highest-grossing Hollywood film of 2021, but there are predictions that Spider-Man will outdo it given its great opening start.
