The legendary Carte Blanche presenter finds himself in Johannesburg’s Milpark Hospital after having suffered what was first thought to be a suspected stroke.
Taking to Twitter Sunday morning he posted a selfie from his hospital bed informing his followers that he was "learning to walk again" after "collapsing" in Hoedspruit in March.
Saying that it looked “ scary”, he went on to assure fans of the investigative TV show that he planned to be back on the small screen as soon as possible.

According to the CDC “Sepsis is the body’s extreme response to an infection. It is a life-threatening medical emergency. Sepsis happens when an infection you already have triggers a chain reaction throughout your body. Infections that lead to sepsis most often start in the lung, urinary tract, skin, or gastrointestinal tract. Without timely treatment, sepsis can rapidly lead to tissue damage, organ failure, and death.”
Carte Blanche began its broadcast in 1988, anchored by Derek Watts and Ruda Landman. Landman left the show in 2007. The investigative program airs on M-Net during prime-time viewing on Sunday nights, at 19:00.
Algoa FM wishes you a speedy recovery Derek.
