In a heartbreaking post on Instagram on Saturday night, former Miss South Africa and Miss Universe 2017, Demi-Leigh Nel-Peters, shared the news of the passing of her younger sister, Franje.
Demi-Leigh wrote alongside a scripture quote and pictures of her 13-year-old sibling: "My little Princess, Angel on Earth, biggest joy and baby sister, Franje, passed away earlier today."
Franje was born with a rare condition called cerebellum agenesis which means that she did not have a cerebellum. While the condition is not fatal on its own, people born without a cerebellum experience severe developmental delays, language deficits, and neurological abnormalities.
