Dakota Fanning refuses to play the Hollywood game

Dakota Fanning refuses to take part in Hollywood?s social charade. The 22-year-old has successfully made the transition from child star to fully fledged actress, taking on serious roles in 2014?s Effie Gray and Ewan McGregor?s film adaptation of American Pastoral.Though Dakota may still be navigating her fame, she admits she?s not the slightest bit interested in partaking in industry events.?(At) those parties there?s this culture,? she told The Edit, going on to describe how awkward it is when people she doesn?t know at events claim to be her friends.

?Well, maybe we could be friends, but we?re certainly not yet. We don?t even know each other! I would rather be with my real friends at a dive bar on a Friday night, you know??Dakota adds that she finds it very difficult when people typecast her based on her past roles - particularly those she took on as a young girl. And she also doesn?t like it when people generalise about her talent and challenge her creative decisions.

?It?s the thing I hate,? she exclaimed. ?No one knows you better than you know yourself. And you have someone going, ?I don?t think you?re like that?? or, ?I don?t think you?re able to do that...? I?m sorry?? However, the blonde beauty admits that part of the reason people may feel like they can speculate about her is because she tries to guard her private life. And she claims that if she doesn?t like the ?vibe? of a place or atmosphere, she doesn?t have any qualms about making an exit.?I?m very sensitive to energy and vibes, and if a vibe is off somewhere, then I?m out. I?ll just go. If it?s not working for me? Just no,? she smiled.
