The family of the country music star has announced that 90-year-old Lynn passed away on Tuesday, October 4.
Posting on Twitter their family statement said "Our precious mom, Loretta Lynn, passed away peacefully this morning, October 4th, in her sleep at home at her beloved ranch in Hurricane Mills.”

The family also asked for privacy as they grieve saying that details on the memorial will be forthcoming in a public announcement.
As stated on her official website, over the course of her 60-year career, she had 51 Top 10 hits and garnered every accolade available in music from GRAMMY awards to induction into the Country Music Hall of Fame.
She will always be remembered for breaking down barriers for women everywhere with songs like Don’t Come Home a Drinkin’, Fist City and Coal Miner’s Daughter.
In the 1980 Oscar-winning movie Coal Miner’s Daughter starring Sissy Spacek, Lynn’s story and songs were brought to an even wider audience.
