In 1994, at 19 years of age, Charlize Theron’s mom bought her a one-way ticket to Los Angeles. It was a move that was to ignite a star-studded career for the Benoni born lass and result in her becoming a US citizen in 2007.
And as a responsible citizen, Theron proudly went to the polls on October the 29th saying on Twitter, “ Dropped mine off at an official drop box at the Hollywood Bowl and tracked it to ensure it was received and will be counted”.
As of today, the 4th November, vote counting is well under way and the world is anxiously waiting for the outcome of this most crucial US election. As the wait continues, Theron has been urging her fans to remain patient by sharing a video of Broadway star Leslie Odom jr singing the ballad Wait for It. It is one the hit songs from the hip-hop musical Hamilton, which tells the story of American Founding Father Alexander Hamilton.
Along with the clip Theron said;’” Our democracy is founded on the right to vote & the belief that every vote counts. We need to wait for millions of mail votes to be counted.
Watch the clip right here as along with the rest of the world - we wait!
