Seasoned actors Cate Blanchett and Brendon Fraser have scooped the best actress and best actor awards respectively at this year’s Critics Choice Awards.
Brendan Fraser won his best actor award for “The Whale”, a movie written by Samuel D. Hunter. Based on the play of the same name, Fraser plays a reclusive English teacher with severe obesity who is trying to restore his relationship with his teenage daughter.
The coveted best actress award went to Tar’s Cate Blanchett. The movie is a psychological drama written by Todd Field and charts the downfall of fictional composer and conductor Lydia Tár.

A24’s Everything Everywhere All at Once won best picture — one of its four prizes of the evening. Filmmaking duo Daniels (Daniel Kwan and Daniel Scheinert) also won best original screenplay and best director(s) for Everything Everywhere All at Once.
