The 2019 Screen Actors Guild nominations were announced yesterday morning and many hugely popular movies have made the cut including Black Panther. The Marvel Studio’s superhero blockbuster grossed a record of R100-million in the SA box-office just two months after its release. It has gone on to become something of a cult movie in South Africa.
Competing in the Outstanding Film Cast category are A Star is Born, Black Panther, BlacKkKlansman, Bohemian Rhapsody, and Crazy Rich Asians. Looking at the small screen, The Americans, Better Call Saul, The Handmaid’s Tale, Ozark, and This Is Us are competing for best drama cast, and Atlanta, Barry, GLOW, The Kominsky Method, and The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel are competing for best comedy cast.
A Star Is Born has the most nominations for the 25th Screen Actors Guild Awards with four nods including best ensemble.
The SAG Awards will be held 27 January and broadcast live by TNT and TBS. This year's show will honour Alan Alda with the Screen Actors Guild Life Achievement Award.
