Bill Cosby to be sentenced today


Bill Cosby may face a sentencing of up to ten years for sexual assault. The former well known comedian now disgraced television actor sat in court while the testimonies of his victims were voiced. 

At least seven other women who have accused Cosby with similar claims of assault sat in the courtroom to listen to the sentencing. All this happened in the absence of Cosby's wife who didn't attend the sentencing with him.

At 81, Cosby is the first celebrity of the #MeToo movement to be convicted of a sex crime.

The sex crime being referred to is that of Andrew Constand, a former university basketball administrator, who was assaulted at Cosby's mansion in Philadelphia, in 2004.

The conviction happened of aggravated indecent assault for drugging and sexually assaulting Constand happened in April of this year.

After the conviction Constand had the following to say:

"I have testified, I have given you my victim impact statement. You heard me, the jury heard me and Mr. Cosby heard me. All I'm asking for is justice as the court sees fit."

According to an article in the NYTimes a psychologist has for a state panel testified that Mr. Cosby deserved to be categorised as a “sexually violent predator” because he had a personality disorder that pushed him to have sex with non-consenting partners.

Sentencing is yet to happen
