Barack Obama tests positive for COVID-19

Barack Obama in action

The former first President of the United States, 60-year-old Barack Obama, is making his status known to the world and using it as an opportunity to encourage those not vaccinated to get the jab.

Taking to Twitter Sunday he wrote: “ I just tested positive for COVID. I’ve had a scratchy throat for a couple days, but am feeling fine otherwise. Michelle and I are grateful to be vaccinated and boosted, and she has tested negative. It’s a reminder to get vaccinated if you haven’t already, even as cases go down".

According to ABC News the country's death toll stands at 965,000 lives lost. The U.S. national case total has also surpassed 79.4 million confirmed cases, according to data from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention and the Department of Health and Human Services and hospitalization rates continue to decline steadily nationwide,
