The family of DJ Avicii, who committed suicide last year, have launched a foundation in support of those suffering from mental health issues.
28-year-old Avicii died in Muscat, Oman, in April 2018, with the cause of death reported as a suicide after he was found to have used a broken wine bottle to fatally wound himself.
In his memory, relatives have launched the Tim Bergling Foundation, which they have said will initially focus on supporting people and organisations in the field of mental illness and suicide prevention. Tim Bergling was the star’s real name.
The family have gone on to say that they will also eventually be active in climate change, nature conservation and the preservation of endangered species. In a statement to the media, they said that "Tim wanted to make a difference -- starting a foundation in his name is our way to honour his memory and continue to act in his spirit."
