Amber Rose: 'No one criticises Channing Tatum for stripper past'

Amber Rose has blasted the sexist double standards of the media when it comes to her stripper past. The former dancer-turned-TV personality expressed annoyance that she is often criticised for being a stripper while Hollywood star Channing Tatum - who wrote a movie based on his exotic dancing origins - is celebrated. The actor?s 2012 film Magic Mike spawned the 2015 sequel Magic Mike XXL, and a live show will debut in Las Vegas next March (17).Amber made the point in an interview with Cosmopolitan South Africa in its October (16) issue, drawing comparisons between their lives."Channing Tatum was a stripper. He was a stripper just like me,' she pointed out to the publication. "Then he became a professional model, just like I did.

I was signed to Ford Models in New York.?Channing began stripping aged 19, after dropping out of the University of South Florida and his past is rarely mentioned. ?He even made a movie about being a stripper! And everyone bought it and they loved it and they were like, ?Oh, my God, Magic Mike, we gotta go see it!? But if I did that, people would tell me I was disgusting,? Amber ranted. ?I run eight business (sic), I'm the CEO of my own company, and still I'm called a stripper. It's so ridiculous. We've had the same life, (Channing) and I, and I'm dumbed down for it. It's not his fault ? it's just society.?

The curvy model, who is currently competing on season 23 of Dancing with the Stars with professional dancer Maksim Chmerkovskiy, has weathered a number of personal attacks from ex Kanye West, who said during a radio interview: "It's very hard for a woman to want to be with someone that's with Amber Rose? I had to take 30 showers before I got with Kim (Kardashian)."The How to Be a Bad B**ch author puts the blame squarely on how society operates double standards when it comes to women, an issue she is passionate about and which prompted her to create the Amber Rose Foundation and her annual SlutWalk, a march to protest rape culture and ?slut-shaming?. While Amber has a number of high-profile exes, including Kanye and Wiz Khalifa the father of her son Sebastian, three, the model stresses they are not responsible for her success. ?Everything I've done, I've worked hard for,? she insisted. ?Anyone can have fame, but I've started companies. I've brought my brand to the next level. Nobody did that but me. No one is going to dim my light.?
