Africa united at MTN Bushfire festival

(ANA) - The MTN Bushfire festival in eSwatini united African and other nationals from around the year once again over the weekend of Africa Day.

Thousands of people from surrounding African countries gathered at House on Fire to enjoy a weekend filled with good food and performances from music legends Lady Smith Black Mambazo,  who performed a tribute to Africa along side Yemi Alade and Salif Keita, despite him being booked off sick by his doctor.

"Our father's aim was to unite people when he formed the group, being invited to such a festival is important to us because we continuing his legacy and we also would love to see Africa united and becoming one peaceful continent," Lady Smith Black Mambazo said after their performance.

Festival goers beared the cold weather in their African attires and filled up the various stages where Sipho 'Hotstix' Mabuse had all ages on their feet dancing to his hits including Burn Out. Other artists that had the crowd going included Sho Madjozi, DJ Doo Wap, Samthing Soweto.

This year MTN Bushfire was a cashless environment which meant guests needed to top-up their armbands with money to buy food, alcohol and festival souvenirs from the market. This made purchases fast and efficient.

The Festival was well organised despite the high volume of people who attended.

Next year it will be happening from May 24 - 26, and anyone who's interested in experiencing Bushfire should get tickets as soon as they go on sale to avoid disappointments.
