Actor Fred Willard dies at the age of 86. Willard was well known for his improv style in comedy that has kept him relevant for more than half a century in the film industry. He has featured in films like “Anchorman”, “This Is Spinal Tap” and “Best In Show”.
His daughter Hope Mulbarger said in a statement on Saturday that her father died peacefully Friday night, she didn’t state the cause of death and it is yet to be revealed. ‘He kept moving, working and making us happy until the very end,’ Mulbarger said.
Willard specialized in stealing small scene appearances as he was rarely a leading man or have a major supporting role in a movie. He played the character of Frank Dunphy who was the goofy father of Phil in the ABC series “Modern Family”.
“The Bold and the Beautiful”, “What’s Hot, What’s Not”, “Everybody Loves Raymond” and “Modern Family” got Willard his Emmy nominations. He also voiced the character of Shelby Forthright in “WALL-E”.
Willard passes away after almost two years since his wife Mary Willard died, she was a playwright and TV writer which also gave her four Emmy nominations. After she died Willard contemplated on acting again but later he got involved on “Jimmy Kimmel Live!” to mock the United States President Donald Trump’s “space force”.
Willard’s death comes nearly two years after his wife Mary Willard died at the age of 71. She was a playwright and TV writer, earning four Emmy nominations.
Jimmy Kimmel said that there was no man sweeter or funnier.
