The much-loved local actor, acclaimed for playing the role of Chris Welman on the long-running soapie, has been discharged from hospital after suffering a heart attack on August 6.
Rees underwent double bypass surgery and was released from hospital Friday with his family sharing the great news with his fans on Facebook.
Their post reads: “ David has been released from hospital yesterday. He is incredibly happy to be home! The fresh country air and comfortable surroundings will bode well for his recovery. The family requests that his privacy is respected and for friends and family to check in with them first before visiting. Thank you for your continued love and support. As many of you know, our beloved soapie star, David Rees, renowned for his role as Chris Welman in #7deLaan, has had a devastating heart attack. This unexpected turn has brought pressing challenges his way, both medically and financially.”
The post went on to ask for financial support as the actor does not have medical aid, a fact they said “intensifies an already daunting journey. No donation is too big or too small; each gesture of kindness means the world.”
They have asked supporters to donate via: https://www.backabuddy.co.za/.../monique-buttle...
They asked that those wishing to offer assistance other than through the Backabuddy Campaign to direct their offers to David's Publication Manager, Corlia Strauss at 082 546 9128 or via corlia@socialinabox.co.za
