President Jacob Zuma has visited former President Nelson Mandela at a Pretoria hospital.
Zuma's spokesperson, and former Mandela prison mate, Mac Maharaj refused to give details, but said Zuma found Madiba comfortable, and in good care on Sunday morning.
Maharaj said he would give an update when doctors issued a report.
He again appealed to the media and the public to respect the privacy of Madiba and his family.
It was the second time the 94-year-old and increasingly frail Mandela was hospitalised this year.
In February, he spent a night in hospital for a minor procedure to investigate persistent abdominal pain.
