President Zuma says the country's slow growth has been caused in part by the global economic slowdown and secondly by domestic conditions, such as prolonged and at times violent strikes, and also the shortage of energy.
He said that during this term, government will investigate the possibility of a national minimum wage as one of the key mechanisms to reducing income inequality.
Zuma added that government will play its part in the implementation of a landmark framework agreement for a sustainable mining industry agreed to by labour, government and business last year.
