Zuma labels Ramaphosa as corrupt over Phala Phala

Former president Jacob Zuma waded into the Phala-Phala scandal at a media briefing in Sandton on Saturday.

President Cyril Ramaphosa has been under pressure since the theft of a large amount of foreign currency from his Limpopo came to light.

Zuma said he believes Ramaphosa is guilty of corruption for keeping so much money at his Limpopo residence.

“I am assuming that what President Ramaphosa has said about the many dollars under his bed or furniture is true – that he conducts private businesses while serving as president of our country.

Zuma was flanked by disgraced former South African Airways CEO Dudu Myeni, his daughter Dudu Zuma and Advocate Dali Mpofu.

The former president spared no punches when it came to the Phala Phala scandal, also claiming that Ramaphosa had committed treason.

“No president should conduct private business while in office. Our country’s problems are too big for a president who is busy hustling on the side.”

A three-member panel, appointed by Parliament, will soon decide if Ramaphosa has a case to answer.

The panel comprises Advocate Mahlape Sello SC, former chief justice Sandile Ngcobo and former judge Thokozile Masipa.
