Former President Nelson Mandela's daughter Zindzi has been ordered to pay Los Angeles boxing adviser Duane Moody about 62 million rand for breaching a boxing contract.
The Star reports that US judge Richard Niedorf has ruled that she must pay Moody for breaching a contract that was to see boxing champions Floyd Mayweather Jr and Manny Pacquiao fight in South Africa as part of Nelson Mandela's 93rd birthday celebrations.
Moody stated in court papers that the event was supposed to be held at Orlando Stadium in Soweto last month but negotiations with Mayweather fell through when Zindzi did not come up with the money to finance the event.
Moody sued her for breach of oral contract, promise without the intent to perform and negligent misrepresentation.
Zindzi's US representative, Michael Lodge says she is aware of the judgment and believes Mohlaleng Media will cover the legal costs as she is a consultant with the company.
